Let me see now ... some things that don't work for me are:
(–and the first one here is the one that gets me most this week-)
The expression, "Do what?" used as a substitute for, "What did you say and would you mind repeating yourself?" "Say what?", is correct English for the hearing impaired. I did not do a what ... I said a what.
On-line chat acronyms and smiley faces inserted in anything outside of the appropriate medium (lol, lmfao and the like. People my age who can easily decode the string "omfglmaobbqrofl copteriss" should be working in a government think tank and thought of suspiciously for even knowing how to text like a 14 year old. The average high school student can barely read and this pared down form of substandard communication is only one of many reasons. Intelligent adults need not perpetuate such idiocracy.) unless it is for comedic or illustrative purposes.
Misspellings and mispronunciations (it says that one does not care about the quality of their communication (BTW: It is “new-klee-er.” Not “new-cue-ler.”).
Messages written in bodily fluids (I have already read a few letters from the Marquis de Sade, thank you.).
Messages written with the cap-lock button full on (It looks like shouting and I DO NOT RESPOND WELL TO SHOUTING. See how that looks?).
Cold showers ... alone.
Dr. Phil and the pathetic American couch potato fascination with octamoms.
Hairy necks.
Hairy rednecks.
Bald cats.
Extruded acapella telephonic communications of a vapid and pointless nature.
Religious fanatics (Spirituality is a personal quest while zealotry is another form of bigotry.).
Smug messages in fortune cookies.
Getting the Sunday paper without the funnies section.
I do not care much for spectator sports or fans of such eye-glossing, brain deadening TV watching (That and televangelism are what have "made this country great.”). It seems to me that these are the same folks who will build a stadium but tear down a library, fund a war but fail to address the hungry and homeless in our own cities, go to church but betray their families. Jahwohl undt seig heil!
I do enjoy theater, acting, music of quite a broad range (musician's curse), technology and back-to-the-basics/do-it-yourself projects.
I am at my best in a creative partnership where ideas are exchanged freely and, as near as possible, equally. If you are also a writer, musician, actress or a fan of the theater then we may have a thing or two in common.
