The producers and performers risked arrest, conviction and possible jail time. NOTHING like this had ever been seen or imagined by anyone--it was a shock. As the joke went " Nixon went to see it 6 times before he got it down Pat" To say it is over rated is to show a complete misunderstanding of the impact it had/has on us today. It is like saying the Beatles had no influence on music .
